US basketball players cannot be beaten in Tokyo either

After triumphs in Beijing, London and Rio, the Americans also won in Tokyo and celebrated their 16th gold in one of their flagship sports. For France, which once again missed its first Olympic victory and won silver for the third time, Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier (16 each) scored most safely.

For the 32-year-old Durant it was his third gold in Japan - and again he was the decisive man. The two-time NBA champion had already shaped the finals in 30 against Serbia and 2016 against Spain with 2012 points each. Against the French, Durant contributed 21 points in the first half alone. In the meantime, his team had already led by more than ten points and entered the hectic final quarter with a score of 71:63. France got within three points ten seconds before the end, but surprisingly it wasn't enough.

The USA also managed to take revenge for two bitter defeats against France, who came third in the World Cup. At the start of the Olympics, the French won the first group game 83:76, inflicting their first defeat at the Olympics in 17 years on the NBA star ensemble.
