Zublasing misses the final - UPDATE

A South Tyrolean, Petra Zublasing from Eppan, was also on duty. The 27-year-old shot 411,6 rings and ended up outside the top 30. The 2014 world champion clearly missed the final of the top eight. In the end, Zublasing, who was ranked 33rd, was separated by 4,3 rings from Olympic champion Yi Siling, who barely made it into the final in eighth place with 415,9 points. Siling's compatriot Li Du set a new Olympic record in the qualification with 420,7 rings and finished the competition in first place.

Zublasing took an unusually long time early Saturday afternoon to fire the first shot. After all, she was the last of the 51 female sport shooters to pull the trigger for the first time. And even after that, the Überetscher couldn't find her usual rhythm. After the first series, Zublasing had 101 rings to his name and at that point it was clear that qualifying for the final would be a very tough job.

Zublasing increases

Zublasing was able to improve in the second series (103,3) before even reaching 104,2 rings in the third round. But the final move was already almost gone - also because her opponents at the front were giving full throttle. The South Tyrolean finally completed the last series with 103,1 points - not enough to make it to the final.

Petra Zublasing still has a chance to fulfill her dream of a medal at the XXXI Modern Summer Olympics. On Thursday, August 11th, Niccolò Campriani's partner will compete in the KK three-position fight (50 m). In this discipline, Zublasing is one of the absolute top favorites.

As far as the air rifle competition is concerned, the American Virginia Thrasher prevailed in the final. She won the first gold of these Summer Olympics ahead of the Chinese Li Du and the 2012 Olympic champion Siling Yi, also from China.

Zublasing misses the final - UPDATE

Early on Saturday afternoon (CEST) the qualification for the female air rifle shooters (10 m) took place at the Olympic Shooting Center in Deodoro, in the far west of Rio de Janeiro.
