After two fantastic runs at the Sanki Sliding Center in Krasnaya Polyana, Natalie Geisenberger is 0,766 seconds ahead of her teammate and defending champion Tatjana Hüfner at halftime. For Geisenberger, who celebrated her 26th birthday five days ago, it would be the first gold medal at the Winter Olympics after bronze four years ago in Vancouver.

The American Erin Hamling is currently in third place, just over 0,20 seconds ahead of the Russian Natalja Khoreva. But there are other top runners lurking behind them, such as the Canadians Alex Gough, Kimberley McRae, the Russian Tatyana Ivanova and Anke Winschnewski from Germany.

Junior world champion Andrea Vötter from Völs, who was still in twelfth place after the first run, slipped back to 22nd place with a botched run in the second run, right in front of junior vice world champion Sandra Robatscher from Tiers. Both are already more than two seconds behind Geisenberger.
