Delago: “Would go down again straight away”

Delago was only placed better twice in the World Cup with a 10th and 13th place in Crans Montana than in her first World Cup appearance. “Of course I would have liked to finish further up front. But that's a very good result, overall I'm really happy with my ride. “Especially since it was my first descent ever in Cortina,” commented the Ladin rider on her racing debut at the Olympia delle Tofane. “That was just a dream” Nadia Delago Delago enjoyed her World Cup debut to the fullest: “It was simply a dream. I would love to go down there again, it was really fun from top to bottom.”

The new downhill world champion Corinne Suter struggled for the right words after the race: “I can't quite realize it yet, a few people still have to tell me that I've done it. I have to praise my service man, he does his job 100 percent every day - as do I. I was able to play to my strengths again today and it paid off.”

For the surprise 2. Kira Weidle from Germany, who is coached by South Tyrolean Christoph Kienzl, was of course very happy at the finish: “It was a really good run. At the start we had a headwind, down below I was sure it was my part and I won it again. Teammate Romed Baumann’s medal (silver in the Super-G, editor’s note) also took some of the pressure off for me.”

“I’m a little annoyed” Lara Gut-Bahrami Bronze medalist Lara Gut-Behrami looked forward to the descent with mixed feelings: “If I had received gold and bronze as a suggestion a week ago, I would have signed straight away. On the other hand, you have to be honest, when I see my split times and the mistakes I made, and I know that it was a close race, then I get a little annoyed.”

Her current emotional state is “normal”, but at the same time the Super-G world champion added: “I will definitely be happy afterwards. But Corinne more than deserves it.”

In addition to the medal winners, Nadia Delago from Val Gardena was also delighted at the women's downhill in Cortina. The 23-year-old achieved the third-best downhill result of her career in 15th place.
