Paris as first responder: “I immediately opened the binding for Baumann”

The shock was huge on Sunday morning shortly before half past 12 p.m. when a dull bang was heard in the finish area in Cortina. Romed Baumann had just crashed into the barrier with full force. Dominik Paris also flinched reflexively.

After the World Cup downhill, the man from Ultimo was doing a television interview when Baumann lost control in the finishing swing and broke through the barriers at high speed. The crash happened less than three meters from Paris. He didn't hesitate for a second and immediately rushed to the scene of the accident.
