Alexander Rabensteiner does the poker

Actually, Alexander Rabensteiner just wanted to test his form at the South Tyrol Ultra Skyrace with a view to the circumnavigation of South Tyrol, which he will tackle from August 15th together with Jimmy Pellegrini (Laag). Because I have never had so many crises. Crises that I overcame well by taking my time with the food, resting and eating,” explained Rabensteiner.

Second place went to the Swiss Walter Manser, who was over 15 minutes ahead of Rabensteiner at times. At Lake Kratzberger, the Swiss, plagued by stomach cramps, had to let Rabensteiner go. Manser reached the finish after 18:47.32 hours, impressed by the route and organization. “You couldn't organize a race better. I might not have expected so many gravel paths, more alpine terrain. But otherwise everything was really great,” said the 41-year-old from Fontnas. The German Matthias Dippacher completed the podium with a time of 19:13.32 hours. Dippacher was already there at the first edition of the Südtirol Ultra Skyrace, when he came second behind Rabensteiner.

Pedevilla pulverizes course record In the women's race it looked like defending champion Maria Kemenater would win until halfway through. But then Anna Pedevilla from Enneberg Pfarre ignited the turbo. In 20:51.45, she became the first woman to break the 21-hour mark in the South Tyrol Ultra Skyrace and improved Annemarie Gross's course record (21:57.52) by more than an hour. “I can’t explain this performance. It's incredible. For me, Annemarie Gross is a top athlete and I would never have dreamed that I would be able to match her performance. The route is quite technical, especially at night, and not suitable for everyone. It's nice, but tiring. “You have to prepare well,” said the mother of four, who praised the perfect catering. The Hungarian Ildiko Wermescher, who lives in Germany, took second place. South Tyrol Skyrace: Johannes Klein misses the course record Johannes Klein from Oberstdorf won over 69 kilometers. He missed the course record by almost three minutes in 7:07.41 hours. The Russian Evgenii Pishchalov took second place (7:15.20), while last year's winner Stefan Tschurtschenthaler crossed the finish line in third place (7:45.44).

Local hero Regina Spiess won among the women. After several second places in her home race, the 45-year-old from Sarnen achieved her first victory of the day this time. Spieß stayed a paltry seven seconds over the 9-hour mark in the Südtrol Skyrace and relegated Julia Witt from Germany (9:08.21) and the Swiss Kerstin Dusch (9:14.01) to places. South Tyrol Sky Marathon: Daniel Rohringer repeats last year's victory The Austrian Daniel Rohringer won the South Tyrol Sky Marathon with a distance of 42,2 kilometers and 2863 meters in altitude. He reached the finish in Sarnthein after 4:14.38 hours. Hansrudi Brugger, the former captain of FC Südtirol and now a passionate long-distance runner, came in second. Domenico Nicolazzo from Bolzano came third (4:39.26).

Edeltraud Thaler arrived in Sarnthein with a huge rage in his stomach. The grand dame of the South Tyrolean athletics scene got lost on the way and ended up covering around two kilometers more than the competition. Nevertheless, it was enough for the win in 5:20.31. Kathrin Angerer from Germany and Birgit Klemm from Val Gardena completed the podium. South Tyrol Sky Trail: Thomas Holzmann from Jenesien and the French Mathilde Vinet are celebrating at the debut The 27-kilometer distance with just over 1000 meters of altitude from Sarnthein to Bolzano was held for the first time this year. Victory went to Jenesian Thomas Holzmann, who completed the route in 2:14.22 hours. Georg Widmann from Tramin ended up in second place, 49 seconds behind, while the German Markus Mey was happy with third place (2:16.46). The women's winner, however, comes from France: Mathilde Vinet from Paris triumphed in 2:42.38 hours. She relegated the South Tyroleans Isabel Tribus (Lana/2:43.55) and Angelica Huber (Meran/2:50.24) to the places of honor.

Alexander Rabensteiner won the 6th edition of the Südtirol Ultra Skyrace on Saturday afternoon. The 42-year-old from Klausen won the 121-kilometer route with 7554 meters of altitude in 18:33.08 hours.
