The Transalpine Run begins on Saturday - South Tyroleans are among the favorites

The South Tyrolean participants are among the favorites with eleven victories in ten years. In 2014, Tamara Lunger and Annemarie Gross won in the women's category, Manfred Planötscher and Annelise Felderer won in the Master Mixed category and Michael Steger and Paul Steinhauser won in the Senior Master category. Of the three winning teams this year, Markus Planötscher and Annelise Felderer as well as Annemarie Gross are still there. The three-time winner runs in the Master Mixed class with Franz Kröss, who took third place together with Alois Unterkalmsteiner in the Senior Master category in 2014. Harald Mitterer (Latsch) and Michaela von Schönbeck (Sulden) are also taking part in the Transalpine Run in the Master Mix category. One of the favorites in the mixed category is the Italian duo Federica Boifava/Mirko Righele from Vicenza.

There is also strong competition in the Master Men category. The three-time winner Silvano Fedel (with Ettore Girardi) will be competing again in 2015! The now 48-year-old from Trentino, who won the event at its premiere in 2005 as well as in 2006 and 2008, should not be underestimated with his partner Andrea Gottardi, just like the Vinschgau natives Anton Steiner and Thomas Höllrigl. Steiner has already finished the run over the Alps twice together with Klaus Wellenzohn in second place. Another master duo is Lord Jens Kramer from Steinegger and Martin Mair from Sarn. In the Senior Masters (together at least 100 years old), Oswald and Richard Wenin from Ultimo are eligible for a top spot.

Daniel Jung and Ivan Paulmichl, who took third place last year, will start in the men's race. Your toughest competitors will be last year's runners-up Alfredo Gil and David Lopez and Andres Lledo Lopez/Jose Ignacio Delgado Perdomo from Spain

Two milestones in Vinschgau

South Tyrol provides two stage locations: St. Valentin auf der Heide and Sulden. This is the 40th time that the province of Bolzano has been the destination of a stage. The starting signal for the 11th Transalpine Run will be given on August 29, 2015 in Oberstdorf, Bavaria. The first stage brings the field of around 600 participants to Lech am Arlberg (AUT). From there it continues via St. Anton and Landeck in Tirol (AUT) to Samnaun (SUI), where the mountain sprint up to Alp Trida will also take place. After further stops in Scuol (SUI) and St. Valentin (ITA) on the Reschenpass, the runners finally reach the finish in Sulden am Ortler (ITA). They cover no less than 268 kilometers and 16.300 meters of ascent and 14.532 meters of descent - all in 8 days.

The Alpine crossing on foot is evaluated in eight categories based on age: Men, Women, Mixed, Master Men and Senior Master Men, Master Women (together at least 80 years old), Master Mixed, and Senior Master Women (together at least 100 years old) .
