The South Tyrol Ultra Skyrace 2019 is just around the corner

The starting signal for the longest distance (121 km/7554 m) will take place on Friday, July 26th at 20 p.m. at Waltherplatz in Bolzano. With local hero Peter Kienzl from Hafling, the German Matthias Dippacher, Gerald Fister from Austria and Oliviero Bosatelli from Bergamo, four top athletes have registered in advance for the royal distance of the renowned South Tyrolean extreme sports event. Jimmy Pellegrini from Laag also decided to take part in the South Tyrol Ultra Skyrace at short notice.

The course record is shaky “We can only repeat ourselves – this year’s race is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling in the history of our extreme sports event,” explains OK boss Günther Mair: “Of course we are excited to see whether the course record set by Daniel Jung, who was at 17:34.37 hours can be cracked. In the women's category, there are two very strong athletes: Denise Zimmermann from Switzerland and Ildiko Wermescher from Hungary. The duo will be challenged by our Sarn local hero Regina Spiess, who will be attempting the longest distance for the first time after her victory over 69 kilometers last year,” continues Mair.

The remaining three races start on Saturday morning (July 27th). At 7 a.m. the participants in the South Tyrol Sykrace (69 km/3930 hm) set off on the route. Half an hour later, the athletes at the South Tyrol Sky Marathon (42,2 km/2863 m above sea level) are ready to start. Both distances start on the Bolzano Talferwiesen. On the other hand, those athletes who have registered for the South Tyrol Sky Trail (9 km/27 m above sea level) set off from the church square in Sarnthein at 1067 a.m. There are also some top-class athletes at the start at these distances, especially in the marathon: for example, the South Tyroleans Andreas Reiterer and Hannes Perkmann, as well as the Austrian Daniel Rohringer. For the women, all eyes are on last year's winner Edeltraud Thaler from Lana.

The first finishes will take place on Saturday, July 27th at around 11 a.m.: The marathon runners will arrive in Sarnthein, and in Bolzano there will be the winners of the Sky Trail. Shortly after midday, around 13.30:121 p.m., the winners of the 69-kilometer original route and the Skyrace (XNUMX km) are expected on the Talferwiesen. Preparations have been completed “The intensive preparation phase has largely been completed. Our team did everything they could to put together the perfect event possible. Now we hope for good weather – and that as many people as possible follow the races live in Bolzano and Sarnthein, but of course also in the mountains. This weekend the hearts of extreme athletes will beat faster because four races will take place as part of the South Tyrol Ultra Skyrace 2019. More than 850 extreme athletes from 27 different nations are registered.
