Three races - one winner: thrilling duathlon finale

It is probably the toughest three-way battle of the season: the Mountain Duathlon Cup 2017, three top-class mountain races. Cycling and running routes. Only those who participate can become mountain champions. The Duathlon Mountain Cup is the overall ranking from three different races. A mountain bike ride and a demanding run with sometimes considerable differences in altitude must be completed. The series started on May 20th with the 9th Death Duathlon in Villandro. The second stage, however, took place on May 2th on the Rosskopf with a cycling section of 28 km and 10,3 m and a running section of 900 km and 8,4 m.

The final stage starts in Meransen on Saturday July 22nd at 10 a.m. From 8:30 a.m. the start numbers will be handed out at the cable car in Meransen. In the first part of the route, the athletes have to go from Meransen to almost the middle station of the ski area. Via the Altfasstal and past the Großberghütte it goes to the Pranterstadlhütte. 7400 kilometers of cycling race from 1418 to 1855 meters altitude. There you change – bike for running shoes. The 4,7 kilometer long running route leads past the Ochsenbogen and the Zasslerhütte to the finish, the Gitschberghütte. In the duathlon, the starters can compete individually or as a mixed relay. Last year's winner Roland Osele is trying to defend his title in Meransen.
