First the high route, then the winter break

Trail runner Daniel Jung is always up for a “challenge”: before the winter break, he dared to take on the newly opened Ortler Höhenweg. In mid-October he successfully completed this in one go. The Latscher extreme athlete needed 123,4:8.000 hours to cover the 19 km and 41 m.

Since all the mountain huts were already closed, it was important to rely on self-sufficiency. He was accompanied and supported primarily by his parents. “The path is quite demanding because most of the time it is at an altitude of over 2000 meters, and there are also many technical passages when crossing a glacier,” commented Jung. Normally a week is allotted to complete the 7 difficult stages.

After the successful Ortler Höhenweg project, Jung said goodbye to the well-deserved winter break. Next season, Jung would like to, among other things, compete internationally again with the strongest trail runners in the world and be at the forefront of the “World Series”.

During the winter break, Latscher, who lives in Naturns, works as a sauna master. A job that he enjoys, as can be seen in a video.

The Ortler Höhenweg was ceremoniously opened in autumn. Extreme athlete Daniel Jung recently turned this into a new project and completed the 123km and 8.000hm in one go. Then we went on winter break.
