Riders unstoppable at the DoloMyths Ultra Marathon

In the DoloMyths Ultra Marathon, participants run on various trails and hiking trails through four Ladin valleys - Badia, Livinallongo, Fassa and Val Gardena. With a wonderful mountain backdrop in the Dolomites nature reserve, the 235 participants circled the Sella massif.

Immediately after the start in Corvara, which took place at dawn, a group of three formed on the first climb to the 2.192 meter high Boè, led by Diego Angella from Brescia, Andreas Reiterer from Hafling and David Cheraz from the Aosta Valley. Georg Piazza from Val Gardena was about twenty seconds behind. The challenging climb to Porta Vescovo and the subsequent descent brought the decision that day. None of his competitors could keep up with the pace set by the young Haflinger and so they had to let him go. From then on, Reiterer was in a league of his own and was able to further expand his lead from check point to check point. In the end, he crossed the finish line in a final time of 6 hours, 18 minutes and 26 seconds, with a lead of 22 minutes. Piazza takes second place But things still got exciting in the fight for the other podium places. Piazza fought his way closer to the two competitors in front of him, kilometer by kilometer, and pulled out all the stops on the final climb. After catching up with Angella, he managed to overtake Cheraz in the last few kilometers. He thus secured second place. The podium was completed by Davide Cheraz. In the women's race, Elisa Desco from Valtellina was unbeatable. She won the race with a start-to-finish victory in 8 hours, 11 minutes and 59 seconds.

Reiterer, who competed for the Asics Ultra Trail Team, was visibly impressed by the mountain scenery and the organization of the race: “It's not every day that you get to compete in a race with such mountain scenery, combined with this fantastic weather. The organization was great – compliments to the organizer. I was super motivated today and felt very good throughout the whole race. I am happy to have shown a strong performance and am looking forward to more races of this kind.”

Riders unstoppable at the DoloMyths Ultra Marathon

Andreas Reiterer won the 10th edition of the Sellaronda Ultra Marathon over 61,5 km and an altitude difference of 3.680 meters, thus leading a South Tyrolean double victory. Georg Piazza from Ortisei came second.
