“Stubai Ultratrail” canceled after fatal fall

A serious accident occurred on Saturday afternoon as part of the “Stubai Ultratrail”. According to police information, it was a 47-year-old athlete from the Netherlands.

On Saturday, the “Stubai Ultratrail” running event in North Tyrol was overshadowed by a fatal fall and then canceled. As the organizer, the Stubai Tourism Association, announced in the afternoon, a participant fell in the Falbesoner Nockalm area around 13.00 p.m. for reasons that are still unclear.

The rescue workers from the medical team and the mountain rescue team, who arrived five minutes after the alarm was raised, continued the first aid that had already been initiated by the participants. A little later, however, the emergency doctor could only determine that the runner was dead.

The competitions were canceled out of respect for the deceased and the family at the decision of the crisis team. The “Stubai Ultratrail” would have led in five different distances up to 3.000 m altitude, where the finish is on the Stubai Glacier.
