Transalpine Run: The South Tyroleans are also celebrating in St. Vigil

The winning time of the South Tyrolean duo was 5:05.35 hours, the gap between second-placed Kathrin Layerl / Yvonne Lehnert (AUT/GER) was 4.10 minutes. “It’s just a matter of your head now,” says Lunger, “but the next two days will go by.”

Steinhauser/Steger before overall victory

The Ahrntalers Peter Paul Steinhauser (61) and Michael Steger (41) are also aiming for category victory in the Senior Master class. In St. Vigil they landed their third victory in a row and completed the difficult stage in 4:08.59 hours. They relegated their closest competitors for the overall victory, Rudi Schöpf/Alfred Psenner, to second place by six minutes and extended their lead to 21 minutes. The third-placed Sexten team with Alois Untersteiner and Franz Kröss crossed the finish line 34.19 minutes behind.

In the Master Mixed category, Annelise Felderer and Markus Planötscher (Team Niederdorf) secured their second victory in this year's Alpine crossing on foot. They needed 4:51.48 hours for the route from Sand in Taufers to St. Vigil and increased their lead in the overall standings over Encarnita and Francisco Perez from Spain to 2:20 hours.

In the master class, Eugen Innerkofler and Ivano Molin from Misurina (BL) came in second place, Daniel Jung and Ivan Paulmichl took third place in the men's category, their second podium place. After yesterday's victory in the mixed class, Andreas Irsara from Val Badia came. with his American partner Jenn Shelter in tenth place. The fastest of the day were the Germans Stephan Hugenschmidt and Mirco Berner in 3:33.29 hours.

Tomorrow 7th stage from St. Vigil to Niederdorf

The seventh and penultimate stage tomorrow leads from St. Vigil over 42 kilometers and 2000 meters in altitude to Niederdorf. The first 13 kilometers through the Tamerstal to Pederu are an ideal start for the runners, but the first steep climb to the Senneshütte is already tough. The route is extremely steep in short bends up to the Sennes plateau, one of the most beautiful high alpine pastures in the Dolomites. The Pragser Wildsee is reached via the Seekofelhütte and the Dolomites Höhenweg No. 1, before another climb to the Weißlahnscharte. Only now do we leave the Dolomites again briefly to the north towards Niederdorf.
