Transalpine Run: Three South Tyrolean winners on the Großvenediger

In the women's category, Tamara Lunger and Annemarie Gross (TEAM GORE-TEX ACTIVE) repeated their opening victory yesterday and won confidently. They needed 5:43.17 hours for today's route and relegated the second-placed Spaniards Cati Llado and Angie Rigo Bibiloni to second place by 16.35 minutes. Third place went to Carmen Otto and Anne Gerlach from Germany.

“It was hard to have to cover almost 50 km again,” says Tamara Lunger. “The first 30 km were relatively flat, but then the climb began and we decidedly increased our rhythm. We were a little more careful on the descent in order to protect ourselves for the next stages,” said the 28-year-old extreme athlete from Gummer.

In the Senior Master category, the South Tyrolean participants took all three podium places. Rudi Schöpf and Alfred Psenner won with a lead of 7.44 minutes over Peter Paul Steinhauser and Michael Steger from Team Ahrntal, while third place went to Wolfgang Maurer and Heinrich Schötzer from Team Sand. Alois Untersteiner and Franz Kröss (Team Sexten 2) came fourth

The third South Tyrolean victory goes to Annelise Felderer and Markus Planötscher (Team Niederdorf). They won in the Master Mixed category ahead of two Spanish pairings, consisting of Roberto and Maria Pilar Prades (+1.50) and Encarnita Martinez Perez/Francisco Ramirez Perez (+30.49)

In the master class, Eugen Innerkofler and Ivano Molin (BL) improved one place compared to the first day and came second. They crossed the finish line 18 minutes behind French winners Pascal Guiget and David Pasquio (4:36.16).

In the men's race, Daniel Jung and Ivan Paulmichl from Val Venosta came one step closer to the podium. They improved by two positions compared to the starting stage and came fourth. The day's victory again went to the Swedes Johan Johannson and André Jonsson (4:15.24).

Tomorrow the GORE-TEX® TRANSALPINE RUN comes to South Tyrol. The third stage leads from Neukirchen am Großvenediger to Prettau in the Ahrntal. The 700 participants have to cover 43,30 km and climb almost 2000 meters in altitude.

The spectacular Alpine crossing on foot and in teams of two ends after eight days, 293 km and around 14.000 meters in altitude on September 6th in Sexten. 350 teams of two from over 30 nations, including 11 South Tyrolean teams, are taking part in the race.
