Transalpine Run: Four South Tyrolean podium places on the second day

In the women's race, Elisabeth Egarter and Petra Theiner were unable to repeat their opening victory. The Sesto and Marlingen women came in second place, 26.22 minutes behind, and lost their lead in the overall ranking. The victory went to yesterday's runners-up, Gitti Schiebel and Ildikó Wermescher (D/HUN), who completed the section from St. Johann to Kitzbühel in 4:32.25,6 hours. The Russians Maria Aleshina and Anastasia Rostovtseva came third (+38.02,2).

“We didn’t have the best day,” says Elisabeth Egarter. “We didn’t sleep well and continually lost time to the eventual winners.”

In the Senior Master class, the Ahrntal team with Peter-Paul Steinhauser and Hermann Schaiter also took second place. The duo crossed the finish line 5.49 minutes after the Allgäu winners of the day, Gerald Rüschenpöhler and Jörg Schreiber (4:26.00,9). Rudi Schöpf and Hans Hörmann from Team Latsch again took third place (+10.41,6).

In the mixed teams, series winner Irene Senfter (Lana) and her partner, mountain running specialist Stefan Tschurtschenthaler from Sexten, made a big leap forward. They took second place, 2.18 minutes behind them. The victory went to the Spaniards Rodriguez Bustillo and Azpeleta Che Dominguez Nur (4:32.32,4). Third place for Anton and Simone Philipp from Germany (+11.58,3).

Tomorrow the third stage will take place over 46,50 km and 2258 m altitude from Kitzbühel to Neukirchen am Großvenediger in Salzburger Land. The day after tomorrow the Transalpine Run comes to South Tyrol.

Transalpine Run: Four South Tyrolean podium places on the second day

The second stage of the 8th Transalpine Run took place today in nice weather. It led over 34,80 km and 1849 meters in altitude from St. Johann to Kitzbühel. The local athletes took three second and one third place.
