Transalpine Run: Two Vinschger teams start on the podium

In the Master category (together at least 80 years old), the Vinschger extreme athletes Anton Steiner and Klaus Wellenzohn from the Dynafit Reschenpass team took second place. They completed the first section in 3:54.08 hours. This meant they were only 1.12 minutes slower than the German winners Anton Philipp and Thomas Geisenberger. Christian Stork and Steffen Walk (GER) took third place, 19 minutes behind.

In the Senior Masters (collectively at least 100 years old), the Latsch team with Rudi Schöpf and his new partner, Florian Kuppelwieser, also took second place. At the finish, the duo lost 13.49 minutes to Michael Sommer and Thomas Miksch, the two winners from Germany. The Austrians Friedrich Schmidthaler and Hermann Daucher came third (+28.40).

In the women's race there was an Italian-Spanish victory by Silvia Serafini and Corthazar Aranzeta Oih (4:07.40). Tamara Lunger and Annemarie Gross missed third place by four minutes.

The second stage tomorrow leads from Lech am Arlberg to St. Anton am Arlberg. First it goes extremely steeply over winding trails to the 2339 meter high Rüfikopf, Lech's “local mountain”. Beautiful paths lead via the Rauhekopfscharte (2415 m) and the Erlijoch (2430 m) in the heart of the Lechtal Alps to the Almajurtal and to the 1922 meter high Erlachalpe. The second long climb on this stage takes participants to the 2543 meter high Valvagehrjoch below the famous Valluga, before the final downhill leads steeply down to St. Anton.

Transalpine Run: Two Vinschger teams start on the podium

The 9th Transalpine Run started today in Oberstdorf. The first stage of the Alpine crossing on foot in teams of two led from the Allgäu over 34,207 km and 2083 meters in altitude to Lech am Arlberg. Of the six South Tyrolean teams, two Vinschger duos made it to the podium.
