VIDEO | BASE jumper survives dramatic crash

The incident happened at the end of September, but the video is still making the rounds on social networks. Sam Percival, a British base jumper, jumped from Lord Berkeley's Seat, a 1000 meter high mountain peak in the Scottish Highlands. But then the 35-year-old experienced dramatic moments between life and death.

As Percival opened his parachute, he was hit by a gust of wind that pushed the base jumper into the rock face. “Then I tried to hold on to something,” the 35-year-old later explained, “but it didn’t work. So I fell into a ravine, my speed slowed somewhat by my parachute. I ended up lying at the bottom of the ravine.”

Miraculously, the Briton remained almost uninjured. “The only injuries I've sustained are a few abrasions and sprains on my ankle and wrist,” said Percival, who also said: “I'm really lucky. People tell me to go play the lottery. But I think I've already used up my luck for this year." The Brit was rescued by a rescue team after several hours. One aid worker said: “To say the young man was lucky is an understatement. He had a huge guardian angel.”
