X-Alps: “The last few hours have been extremely hard”

On the last stage on the way to the finish, Durogati took the night pass, meaning the Merano native was allowed to hike through the whole night. When he reached the last checkpoint above the principality at 5 a.m. after 10 days and 17 hours, the 33-year-old was overjoyed: “It was a nice race and a great adventure – the best X-Alps so far. But the last few hours were really extremely hard." In the end, Aaron Durogati finished 9th.

The man from Castelrotto came within 212 kilometers of the finish and ended up in 13th place in the final ranking. The victory went to Chriegel Maurer, who Record winner celebrated his 6th triumph at the X-Alps. He reached the finish line after 9 days and 3 hours, 18 hours ahead of rookie Maxime Pinot (FRA) in second place, while Benoit Outters (FRA) and Paul Guschlbauer (AUT) landed in third place at the same time. A total of 2 athletes took part in the X.-Alps 3 from Salzburg to Monte Carlo.
