Two podium places for South Tyrol on the Grossglockner Trail

On the Grossglockner Trail, participants run 57 km and 3.500 m altitude along the Großglockner through the Dorfertal to the Kaprun glacier world. Andreas Reiterer from Hafling won the classic at the last edition and went into the race as the top favorite. Tobias Geiser from Mölten, who lives in his adopted home of Austria, is currently in great shape and also started the race in the extended circle of favorites. Immediately after the start it was clear that it would be a tough fight. The young Greek Paradeisopoulos Konstantinos attacked very early and separated himself from the rest of the field. At kilometer 20, his lead was already 8 minutes. Reiterer and Geiser, on the other hand, ran behind as a duo. On the following descent from the Glocknerhaus, the Haflinger gave chase and was able to catch up with the Greek before kilometer 40. In a bitter duel over the last few kilometers, the Greek ultimately emerged as the lucky winner. In 5.35,29:6 he took victory ahead of the South Tyrolean duo Reiterer and Geiser. With a good performance, Georg Widmann placed 11th and Andreas Kristandl XNUMXth, among others, in the top ranks of the Großglockner Trail. The second placed rider in an interview: the race today was very difficult. Konstantinos attacked very early and broke away. The previous day's rain made the track very muddy and slippery. It was therefore a big challenge to make up time on the already technically difficult sections. I was able to fight back, but in the end Konstantinos was too strong today. But I'm really happy to be on the podium with my friend Tobias Geiser.
