Bayern shoot their way to the championship trophy

Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, who played their last Bundesliga game in FCB uniform, scored one goal each to give the “Reds” a clear 5-1 win against Europa League semi-finalists Eintracht Frankfurt. Borussia Dortmund won 2-0 at Borussia Mönchengladbach, but remains two points behind Bayern in the final standings.

The “Foals” have to give up the Champions League spot to Leverkusen and will play in the Europa League with Wolfsburg, who shot Augsburg 8-1, and Frankfurt in the Europa League.

Ribery says goodbye with a goal and a record In the season finale, Bayern once again showed off their class. Kingsley Coman put Munich on course for the title early on with his goal (4th). Only the poor exploitation of opportunities by the hosts and keeper Kevin Trapp kept Frankfurt in the game. The two veteran stars Ribéry and Robben, who were bid farewell on Saturday at the Allianz Arena, felt sad. The Frenchman even sets another record with his ninth Bundesliga title. “What they both achieved was sensational. “They shaped an era,” praised coach Kovac, who “had to make a sporting decision” and therefore left both of them out of the starting line-up. Whether Kovac saved his job at Bayern by winning the championship remains exciting. The day before there had been rumors about his replacement - regardless of the outcome of the season.

In contrast to the title fight, everything at the bottom of the table was already clear the previous week. Hannover 96, which lost 1:2 (0:0) at Fortuna Düsseldorf, is saying goodbye to the 2nd league after two years. The same applies to bottom team 1. FC Nürnberg, who lost 1:5 (0:2) to SC Freiburg and are back in second division after just one year. VfB Stuttgart, who played 04-0 at FC Schalke 0, has to sit in relegation detention. On Schalke's side, Huub Stevens sat on the bench for the last time; the Dutchman has fulfilled his mission to stay in the league. In the summer he makes room for David Wagner. Hoffenheim and Bremen miss the Europa League Leverkusen moved into the premier class thanks to goals from Kai Havertz (28th), three times from Lucas Alario (38th, 72nd and 88th) and Julian Brandt (54th) with a goal conceded by Valentino Lazaro (34th).

Wolfsburg came through three goals from Wout Weghorst (21st, 37th and 55th) as well as Robin Knoche (42nd), Daniel Ginczek (57th), Elvis Rexhbecaj (60th), Josip Brekalo (85th) and an own goal from Kevin Danso (89th) to a landslide victory and will therefore be represented internationally next season. 1899 Hoffenheim lost 2:4 at FSV Mainz 05 and thus missed out on participating in the European Cup, as did Werder Bremen despite the 2:1 win against Leipzig.
