FC Bayern celebrates a landslide victory

The day after Dortmund won 5-1 Against Hannover, Bayern lost only a little ground in goal difference to BVB, who were six points away.

Thiago (5th minute), an own goal from VfB captain Christian Gentner after a shot from Serge Gnabry (55th) and Leon Goretzka's header (71st) put Bayern on course. Robert Lewandowski failed with a penalty (65th), but then scored to make the final score 4-1 (84th). Anastasios Donis (26th) only gave the guests hope for a surprise.

After the first half of the season's mistakes at home against Augsburg (1:1), Freiburg (1:1) and Düsseldorf (3:3), the Munich team initially had more trouble than expected in the first home game of the second half of the season. In the second round it became clear.

The game The football afternoon started as expected in front of 75 spectators in the sold-out arena. Bayern put a lot of pressure on – and celebrated their lead early on. Thomas Müller followed up well and passed the ball inside, Lewandowski set up for Thiago - and the Spaniard scored his second goal of the season.

After a lively start, the Munich team went into slow mode and managed to make it 1-0. There was a lack of speed and determination in this phase; too often the game was played across the board instead of in depth. Although the equalizer wasn't exactly announced, Donis was happy to take the measure as he was criminally unchallenged by Thiago and Niklas Süle. His shot from 20 meters hit the corner unstoppable for Manuel Neuer, who was flying beautifully but in vain.

After the break, Bayern took the lead again. Gnabry, who came on as a substitute in the 46th minute, took a lot of risks with his shot after a cross from Coman - and that was rewarded by the deflected ball from VfB captain Gentner.

After that there was double bad luck at the post. First, Stuttgart's Nicolas Gonzalez failed in a great chance to equalize (64th), in return Lewandowski missed a penalty that was caused to him (65th). Lewandowski then missed another good opportunity, but Goretzka scored with a header from Kimmich's corner. Lewandowski also managed a good finish. FC Bayern celebrates a landslide victory

FC Bayern has fulfilled its duty in the title race. Thanks to the 4-1 win against relegation-threatened VfB Stuttgart, the Munich team remains within striking distance of leaders Borussia Dortmund.
