Stuttgart spoils Heynckes' last Bayern home game

Tayfun Korkut's team took advantage of FC Bayern's blatant defensive weaknesses to win a sensational 4:1 (2:1) and can hope to qualify for the Europa League. If the Munich team wins the DFB Cup next Saturday, VfB will play in qualifying for the Europa League next season as seventh in the table.

After Daniel Ginczek gave VfB an early lead (5th), Frenchman Corentin Tolisso (21st) equalized for Munich. The lively Anastasios Donis (42nd) scored 2-1 for VfB. Chadrac Akolo (52nd) and Ginczek (55th) increased shortly after the change.

Bundesliga top scorer Robert Lewandowski missed his 30th goal of the season several times. For Bayern it was the first home defeat in the league since March 2, 2016 (1:2 against Mainz).

Before the Bundesliga final, FC Bayern had already thanked their successful coach and officially said goodbye to him. Heynckes received a bouquet of flowers and a collage with the team's signatures from President Uli Hoeneß and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Heynckes reacted with emotion to the audience's thunderous applause.

The 73-year-old stepped in at the beginning of October after Carlo Ancelotti was fired. In his fourth engagement with Bayern, he led the team to their sixth championship title in a row and their 28th overall. Heynckes will make his last appearance as a coach in a week at the DFB Cup final in Berlin against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Swabians, who were geared towards counterattacks, got off to a lightning start when Donis fooled the Bayern defense for the first time and crossed to Ginczek, who was ready to take a shot. Without center forward Mario Gomez, who was missing for a short time due to his father's joy, VfB was almost entirely inferior in the first half except for another opportunity from Ginczek (26th) - but then Donis surprised the Munich team again and finished against former Stuttgart player Sven Ulreich in Bayern -Goal yourself this time.

The Heynckes team was far too wasteful with their chances, Lewandowski in particular was denied several times by VfB goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler. In the 26th and 33rd minutes it was more due to the Pole's carelessness than Zieler that no goal was scored. Tolisso (36th) also missed a great chance.

The Munich team had another promising scene with Javi Martinez, who came on for Tolisso (47th), but VfB countered as coldly as a top team. First Akolo used a cross from Emiliano Insua, then Ginczek was there to take a rebound. Lewandowski (53'), however, continued to have no luck in finishing and had to endure whistles from the spectators.

HSV is relegated to the 2nd division for the first time in the history of the Bundesliga, after exactly 19.985 days. The HSV fans riot in stoppage time and the game has to be interrupted for ten minutes.

Hoffenheim and Dortmund qualify directly for the Champions League.

Stuttgart spoils Heynckes' last Bayern home game

The party crashers from VfB Stuttgart severely disrupted Bayern Munich's championship celebrations and also spoiled Jupp Heynckes' last home game as coach of the record champions.
