Thanks to the 6-0 gala against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday, BVB is still only one point behind Munich. Former Salzburg player Karim Adeyemi (14th, 59th) and Jude Bellingham (54th, 86th) shone with two goals each, while Sebastien Haller (29th) and Donyell Malen (37th) also scored.
However, with three games still remaining against Mönchengladbach, Augsburg and Mainz, the Revierclub still has to hope for a mistake by the defending champions. At least he withstood the test of nerves and followed suit a week after the disappointing 1-1 draw in Bochum, which cost him the league lead, and one day after Bayern's 2-1 win in Bremen. On the other hand, the Wolves missed out on making it into the European Cup ranks after two previous wins.
In front of 81.365 spectators in the sold-out Signal Iduna Park, the guests were no match for the exuberant enthusiasm and, above all, the high pace of the two BVB attackers Adeyemi and Malen. Even if VfL was not entirely without chances, for example when Patrick Wimmer (20th) failed in a counterattack by Dortmund goalie Gregor Kobel. The Austrian striker played through and also saw Adeyemi miss the triple with a shot wide of the goal from the penalty spot (65th). But that no longer played a role.
