Again nothing for HSV: Stuttgart remains first class

VfB Stuttgart managed to stay in the league in a roundabout way. HSV, on the other hand, has to remain in the second division for another sixth year.

Four days after 3-0 home win in the relegation first leg The team placed 16th in the table against Hamburger SV. Last season also won 3-1 (0-1) away on Monday, thus preventing their third relegation since 2016.

The traditional Hamburg club, which failed in relegation to Hertha BSC last year, is looking forward to a sixth year in the second division.

Sonny Kittel (6th) gave the third-place team in the second division an early lead in front of 55.500 spectators and raised hopes of a miracle after the sobering performance in the first leg. But Enzo Millot (48th, 64th) turned the game around in the second half, with his second goal thanks to a serious mistake by HSV goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes. Silas Katompa Mvumpa (97th) also scored.
