Liverpool leaders - Emotional return for Sir Alex

Liverpool have the maximum points total of 18 after six games, while ManCity, team manager Pep Guardiola's team, has two points less.

The most emotional moment came on Saturday at Old Trafford in Manchester. The legendary team manager Sir Alex Ferguson returned to the stands of his long-standing place of work on Saturday for the first time after his life-threatening illness on May 5th. The 76-year-old Scot was back in the stadium for the first time at the home game between soccer record champions Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but only saw a 1-1 draw (1-0).

When he appeared in the stands six minutes before kick-off, there was a standing ovation from both fan camps. Man United asked spectators to be in their seats 15 minutes before kick-off to honor Sir Alex on his return.

"It's definitely going to be very emotional," Ferguson had previously emphasized, "it's been a long journey and I've taken a lot of steps forward. I'm doing what my son tells me and what the doctors tell me. Everything is OK," Ferguson said on ManUnited TV.

Ferguson had to undergo emergency surgery on May 5th due to a cerebral hemorrhage and was in the intensive care unit. The last time the successful coach was at Old Trafford was on April 28th, when United played against Arsenal FC.

The goals for Liverpool were scored by Wesley Hoedt (10th, own goal), former Schalke player Joel Matip (21st) and striker Mohamed Salah (45th + 3). In addition to Gündogan, Sergio Agüero (32nd), Bernardo Silva (35th) met with assists from Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez (67th/89th), who was served by Gündogan for his first goal. The two German national players were in the Citizens' starting eleven.

The fifth point of the season went to 2014 world champion Andre Schürrle (27) with FC Fulham. The Londoners drew 1-1 (0-1) against the surprise team from FC Watford on matchday six. Andre Gray (2nd) scored the early 1-0 for the guests, who are still close to the top with 13 points. Aleksandar Mitrovic (78th) scored the equalizer for the Schürrle team and also headed it onto the crossbar (90th). Former Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Leverkusen and Mainz player Schürrle played 90 minutes.

Huddersfield Town with German team manager David Wagner slipped to last place in the table after the 1:3 (1:1) defeat at Leicester City and is still without a win this season with just two points.

Liverpool FC took over the lead in the English Premier League on Saturday. The Reds won 3-0 against Southampton FC and took the lead ahead of defending champions Manchester City, who beat Cardiff City 5-0.
