Man City shoots Liverpool out of the title race at Anfield

Liverpool are now 10 points behind Manchester City and are only in 4th place - in order to be at the top again, they need a sporting miracle and several dropouts from their competitors. They are quite rare in the English Premier League, supposedly the best league in the world. But the game started quite slowly. Both teams seemed more defensively concerned than offensively committed, which is why great scoring chances were initially in short supply. That changed in the 37th minute when Gündogan shot a penalty kick over the goal. Although it was 0-0 at half-time, there was more fire in the game from then on. With some difficulty, the Londoners prevailed 2-1 (1-0) against bottom-placed Sheffield United on Sunday. Chelsea remained unbeaten under Tuchel and moved up to fifth place in the Premier League table with 39 points thanks to the win. Timo Werner, who started the Chelsea offensive together with Frenchman Olivier Giroud, provided the assist for Mason Mount to take the lead at Bramall Lane (43rd minute). After an own goal from Chelsea defender Antonio Rüdiger (54th), Jorginho (58th) scored the winning goal for the Blues with a penalty. Chelsea's gap to a Champions League starting place is now just one point after the away win. Man City shoots Liverpool out of the title race at Anfield
