Mané breaks the spell: Liverpool wins against Aston Villa

Team manager Jürgen Klopp's team won an uneventful game against Aston Villa on Sunday 2-0 (0-0) and struggled for long periods. The Reds lost their first game after the early decision in the title fight on Thursday against last year's champions Manchester City (0:4).

It was difficult for Liverpool to get into the game against the guests, who were threatened with relegation, and the Reds didn't have any real chances to score in the first half. It wasn't until the 71st minute that Sadio Mané took the lead in the stadium at Anfield Road. Liverpool then had more space, shortly before the end Curtis Jones scored to make it 2-0 (89'). City makes a mistake Man City suffered a surprising 0-1 (0-1) defeat at Southampton FC on Sunday evening. Che Adams scored the only goal after 16 minutes.

Liverpool, who have been champions since June 25th, still have a chance of breaking Manchester City's 89-point record from the 100/2017 season with five games remaining and currently have 18 points.

Leicester and the other Champions League candidates had already won their games on Saturday.
