Sigi's tips: Mbappé and the super deal

Envy creeps into our emotional world from time to time and not even secretly. Sometimes, even though it shouldn't be, it is almost overpowering and you could then “burst with envy”. This saying was already in use in ancient times and goes back to the fable of Phaedrus, in which the frog wants to compete in size with an ox. For this purpose it inflates until it bursts.

Why him and not me? You look at your neighbor's new racing bike critically, as does your new car. His new girlfriend does too and tries to cover up this uneasy feeling with disparaging comments. The bike: “Well, that’s how it works.” The car: “Wouldn’t be my thing anyway.” The girlfriend: “Not exactly a big deal either.” And we already think that we feel better in our narrow little world. Kyle Mbappé, the wonder striker from France, is not moving to Spain but is staying with Paris St. Germain. He will reportedly receive 300 million euros for the signature and 2025 million euros until the end of the contract, which has been set for 50. Yearly. (please don't calculate what that daily income is).

Now it really means: Don't let any envy arise. The Frenchman simply negotiated cleverly. He would have moved for free and could therefore have demanded a horrendous salary from the club in question (Real Madrid). His employers from Qatar anticipated this. PSG is owned by the holding company Qatar Sports (QSI). The chairman is Nasser Al Khelaifi. He is also the president of PSG and was a good tennis player during his active sporting days, which is why he is of course also the tennis president of his country. He is more than just a gray eminence in sports. With his commitment, he is changing the sport, which is now only defined by debits and credits.

The deal with Mbappé once again makes it clear that a lot is expected of the fans. Envy must be suppressed because you don't want to let your pure joy be spoiled. Leipzig's eternal envious people It is the new world in sport that is not recognized with enthusiasm elsewhere. RB Leipzig is the best example in the Bundesliga. By the way, RB does not officially stand for “Red Bull”, i.e. for the Austrian effervescent company that is active in many sports in a similar way to QSI. Only those who manage to ignore these constructions, such as Liverpool FC with Jürgen Klopp, will continue to receive the support of the fans. And success, yes success, must come. It is clear economic thinking, far away from sentimentality. It seems strange, but the time has probably come to gradually come to terms with the new constellations and circumstances. It can be assumed that anyone who ignores this will soon only be able to look at their competition with envy.
