Real coach Ancelotti: The club has assured me that I will stay

Carlo Ancelotti says he will remain as coach at Real Madrid despite a disappointing season.

When asked whether the club had promised him that he would fulfill his contract, which runs until 2024, the Italian replied at a press conference on Saturday: “Yes”. Ancelotti was recently discussed, among other things, as the future coach of the Brazilian national soccer team.

The day before he had spoken to Real President Florentino Pérez, including about missing the Champions League final due to the 0-4 defeat in the second leg of the semi-final against Manchester City. “He promised me his support and we talked about the game on Wednesday. We go into the future with the firm hope of making things right,” said the 63-year-old.

The Whites won the Spanish Cup this season, but had to admit defeat to arch-rivals FC Barcelona in the championship. After the clear defeat against ManCity, the media speculated that Real could now part ways with Ancelotti.

But he had already dismissed it immediately after the defeat on Wednesday. In response to questions about his future during the week, he assured that he would remain in Madrid: “Nobody doubts it, because the president made a clear statement 15 days ago. Nobody doubts it.”
