Cagliari surpasses itself and defeats Inter

In the first 30 minutes not much really happened in the game between Cagliari in 14th place and Inter in 3rd place. In the 31st minute, however, Luca Ceppitelli brought the home team's fans into ecstasy: Luca Cigarini hit a free kick diagonally into the penalty area, Ceppitelli pressed head the ball into the top right corner. It was the first goal for Cagliari's defense in this championship.

In the 33rd minute, the Sardinians were on the verge of making it 2-0, but Inter goalie Samir Handanovic made a desperate save. Inter became more active and 5 minutes later Lautaro Martinez took a cross from Radja Nainggolan with his head and converted from 5 meters into the near corner to make it 1-1. Cagliari remained under pressure before the break, in the 43rd minute Leonardo Pavoletti shot easily in the penalty area and sank the cross to make it 2-1.

It was only in the last 20 minutes that Inter became more dangerous; in the 85th minute it was Lautaro Martinez in the six-yard box who tried to finish from the turn, but without success.

Things got really hot for Inter in stoppage time, after a foul by Milan Skriniar the referee whistled for a penalty for Cagliari, but Nicoló Barella made a terrible shot and the ball landed in the stands. In the 94th minute, defender Andrea Ranocchia headed the ball past Alessio Cragno on goal. Suddenly Inter were close to equalizing, and in the last second a header from Iglesias Borja Valero went just over the crossbar. Cagliari's 6th win of the season was sealed, as was Inter's 7th defeat.
