Chievo captain attacks Ventura: “I wanted to leave from the start”

“Crazy,” writes the 39-year-old striker on Instagram and attacks Ventura: “After the difficult summer and a forgettable start to the season, things got even worse. A coach has resigned who wanted to leave here from the start anyway.” This refers to the surprising resignation of ex-Italy coach Ventura, who surprisingly quit as Chievo coach after the 2-2 draw against Bologna on Sunday evening.

“Don’t do it like Ventura.” But that wasn't enough for Chievo legend Pellissier (he has played 2002 games for Chievo since 482): “I thought that after 22 years as a professional I had seen everything. But I was wrong, there are always new things. Here at Chievo we are constantly facing new difficulties, but together we will overcome the current ones. Anyone who loves this club won't leave them alone just because things are going badly. Don’t do it like Ventura, a team wins and loses together.”

While the captain was upset about Ventura, President Luca Campedelli is already looking for a coach again. The Ventura successor will be the third Chievo coach in the current season. It started with ex-FC South Tyrol coach Lorenzo D'Anna, who was fired after a weak start to the season.
