Thanks to Brozovic: Inter wins in Turin

After beating Torino, Inter moved into second place in the Serie A table. Competitors Lazio can counter later in the evening.

In an extremely exciting game between Inter and FC Torino, the “Nerazzurri” ultimately prevailed 1-0 thanks to a goal from Marcelo Brozovic. The score didn't do justice to the attractive activity on the pitch - both teams impressed with a committed offensive performance.

After an initial feeling, the game picked up speed after a good quarter of an hour. There were chances on both sides, especially Romelu Lukaku who repeatedly appeared in Turin's penalty area for Inter. But, as so often for the “Nerazzurri”, the 1-0 came from a midfielder. The Torino defense gave Marcelo Brozovic a moment too much space on the edge of his own penalty area. The Croatian took advantage of this space and sank a powerful shot into the right corner for a deserved lead (37'). The 30-year-old also made it 2-0 a few minutes later, but the teams went into the break 1-0.

Inter were also the better team in the second half. Substitute Edin Dzeko, for example, sniffed to make it 55-2 in the 0th minute, but the ball just missed the bar. Roberto Gagliardini also narrowly failed to score a goal a little later - his header attempt also went wide of the goal. But Torino also had a lot up their sleeves and forced Samir Handanovic into a brilliant save once or twice. In the last 20 minutes, the Turin team increasingly pressed for the equalizer, but the stable Inter defense held tight and brought the victory over time.
