Juve wins and wins

On Monday evening, Juventus and Chievo completed the 20th matchday in Serie A. And the second half of the season began for Juve as the first half of the season ended: with a win, of course. In the first league game of 2019, the “Bianconeri” had the upper hand against the guests from Verona 3-0.

Juventus had the game against the bottom of the table under control for much of the game and celebrated a confident victory, but there was no goal spectacle. Chievo tried to make life as difficult as possible for the favorites, but this was rarely successful and scoring opportunities for the guests remained scarce.

Shortly before the break, however, the guests became dangerous in one of their few attacks. Luca Rossettini's shot in the 44th minute went just over the crossbar. Ronaldo misses a penalty Juventus also dominated the game in the second half. After 51 minutes the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Mattia Bani touched Costa's shot with his hand. When the penalty was due, Cristiano Ronaldo missed Stefano Sorrentino. The Portuguese superstar opted for the bottom right corner, but Sorrentino parried brilliantly. In the 83rd minute it was Daniele Rugani who made the final decision. After a free kick cross from Federico Bernardeschi, the defender scored with a remarkable header. Juve extends their lead With the 3-0 win, Juve were able to extend their lead over Napoli to nine points. The southern Italians had the upper hand in the top game against Lazio 2-1 on Sunday evening (see own report) .

Juve will continue to march alone at the top of the table in the new year. On Monday evening, Ronaldo and Co. celebrated a 3-0 win against Chievo at home in Turin.
