Juve and Lazio celebrate on derby night

Football Sunday in Italy was dominated by the big derbies – Inter against Juventus and Roma against Lazio. The two giants of Italian football from Milan and Turin would normally be found higher in the Serie A table. But neither Inter in 6th place nor Juve in 8th place have really gotten going this season. Games like the Derby d'Italia can make the difference and give the players the belief they need. In the end, Juve left the field with a 2-0 win and Lazio with their heads held high thanks to a 1-0 win.

Massimiliano Allegri and Simone Inzaghi's men played fast-paced football from the start. Already in the first few minutes there was excitement back and forth in the Juventus Stadium. After four minutes, Lautaro Martinez had the lead from 10 meters and on the other side it was Bremer who acrobatically put the ball just past the post (18th). Even before the break, both Edin Dzeko (25th) and Denzel Dumfires (42nd) had the lead, but both Inter players were able to convert their almost 0% opportunities into uncountable things. Filip Kostic stormed down the left flank and played to Adrien Rabiot in the middle. He pushed the ball unstoppable for Andre Onana into the bottom right corner to make it 1-0 for Juve (52'). A shock for Inter, but the Milanese subsequently pushed for the equalizer. However, Lautaro Martinez, Edin Dzeko and Dumfries failed to break through the Old Lady's defense. Shortly before the end, Nicolo Fagioli even made it 2-0 for Juve and caused Turin to cheer.

Lazio confirms supremacy in Rome In the Roman derby, Lazio beat AS Roma 1-0. Striker Felipe Anderson scored the decisive goal in the 29th minute. Lazio improved to third place, eight points behind Napoli, with their local rivals now only fifth, two points behind.

Anyone who paid attention to this game among South Tyrolean football fans may have spotted a familiar face. Because Nicolo Casale had a big contribution to the clean slate of his goalkeeper Ivan Provedel. The central defender, who was in the FC Südtirol squad in the 2018/19 season, made it to the top in Italian football and rewarded himself with an excellent performance.
