Masters Napoli lose in Monza

Napoli suffered a bearable defeat in Serie A on Sunday. The already established champions lost away to newly promoted Monza.

Luciano Spalletti's side fell behind in the 0th minute of their 2-18 defeat at Monza when Dany Mota scored with a low shot. Victor Osimhen & Co. couldn't get going and conceded the 0-2 goal to Andrea Petagna shortly after the start of the second half. Although the southern Italians then had more chances, the score remained 0-2.

In the lunchtime game, Hellas Verona suffered a bitter setback in the relegation battle: Due to the 0-1 defeat against Torino, the lead over pursuers Spezia has finally disappeared. The last three match days will now decide who will be relegated. Meanwhile, Fiorentina had reason to celebrate with a 2-0 home win against Udinese. The final phase was particularly turbulent when goalscorer Giacomo Bonaventura was shown the red card.
