Milan defeats Napoli – Juve thanks Morata

For a long time, the top game did not live up to its name. But Olivier Giroud's golden goal (49th) significantly increased the entertainment factor of the game. Within a few minutes, both teams created chances on both sides, and in the final phase Napoli even sniffed the equalizer several times. In the end, Milan only had a narrow lead, which also meant they were at the top of the table.

The lead came out of nowhere. Shortly after the break, a free kick from the right half of the field was not cleared properly, allowing Calabria to shoot from a distance. This attempt would have clearly missed the left post, but Giroud had the presence of mind to hold out his foot and give Milan the lead (49'). Napoli needed a few minutes to get back into the game, but ultimately woke up too late. Otherwise, Juve dictated the game without getting lost in frivolous actions. There was some luck in the second half, but Wojchiech Szczesny once again proved to be a strong support. Thanks to the important home win, the Turin team were able to cement their claim to 4th place and distanced Atalanta and Roma to 6 points.

With ten match days to go, Serie A could hardly be more exciting. Milan leads Inter by two points, Napoli is one point behind. As a reminder, Inter holds one game less and therefore has a small advantage in the championship race. If you take a look at the rest of the game calendar, the circle of championship contenders could be expanded. With Juve, a power that was believed to be dead is stalking the top trio.
