Milan continues to be flawless – Roma with a last minute win

The start of the season for Milan and Lazio was both perfect. Both clubs arrived at the top game on Sunday with two wins under their belt. Despite the even balance on paper, the Rossoneri set the tone from the start.

Lazio was hardly able to make an impact and never really put the Milan defense in trouble. Milan, who had to do without Olivier Giroud, who was suffering from Corona, combined again and again until Pepe Reina's goal. In the end there were only half chances.

Shortly before the half-time whistle, the time had finally come: after a one-two from Ante Rebic and Leao, the deserved lead was taken (45'). Mourinho can, among other things, thank his keeper Rui Patricio, who was able to prevent Sassuolo from taking the lead a few times. In the end it was a stroke of genius from Roma that gave the home team a 1-0 lead. With a quickly taken free kick, Bryan Cristante was perfectly placed in the penalty area and was able to put his team in the lead.

The game was also extremely varied in the second half, with both teams having individual periods of pressure. Sassuolo pushed for the equalizer, which Filip Djuricic was ultimately able to achieve (57th). As a result, there were top-class chances on both sides; any outcome of the game would have been deserved at this point. The goalkeepers Rui Patricio and Andrea Consigli repeatedly stood out.

In the 91st minute, Consigli was also powerless. Stephan El Shaarawy used a rebounded ball and put it at the right post, which finally directed it into the net - a dream goal in the last second. Sassuolo fought back one last time and scored what was supposed to be an equalizer, but it was canceled due to an offside position. This was the third win in the third game for Roma, who are now level on points with Milan at the top of the table.
