Olivier Giroud saves Milan

A slightly hungover Milan faced Spezia on Saturday evening. At times the Rossoneri looked like worthy champions, but at times Stefano Pioli's team played below their ability. What followed was a tight game in which it looked for a long time as if Spezia would steal a point from the San Siro. But veteran Giroud showed an acrobatic masterpiece shortly before the end and scored the 2-1 winning goal.

Milan was the dominant team in the opening minutes and increasingly restricted the guests from Spezia in their own half. After 20 minutes the time had finally come. Like a handball team in attack, the Rossoneri positioned themselves around the Ligurians' penalty area until Ismael Bennacer set the scene for Theo Hernandez, who was in great form, with a lob. Milan's number 19 took the ball with his chest and fired it past Dragowski into the goal with a powerful shot.

As convincing and dangerous as the Milanese presented themselves in the first half, they behaved just as carelessly after the restart. So it only took about a quarter of an hour until Milan got the bill thanks to a homegrown player with the name of a legend. The son of sports director Paolo Maldini, Daniel Maldini, who is on loan to Spezia, skilfully flicked the ball into the far corner after a disorder on the edge of the box to make it 1-1.

A wake-up call for Milan, who were unable to capitalize on their chances for a long time. But once again, as against Salzburg, it took a stroke of genius from Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman acrobatically buried Sandro Tonali's cross into the net - moments before the end. As a result, Giroud took off his jersey and received a yellow-red card. But Spezia couldn't force an equalizer in stoppage time even against 10 men and it remained 2-1 for Milan.

Napoli without mistakes Napoli have continued their run at the top of Italy's Serie A. The 2-1 win at Atalanta Bergamo was the ninth championship win in a row for coach Luciano Spalletti's team. Atalanta, who were also in good form, got off to a better start with a penalty goal from Ademola Lookman (19th), but goals from Victor Osimhen (23rd) and Eljif Elmas (35th) gave Napoli the lead at the break and ultimately the victory.
