16 times precious metal for Karate Mühlbach in Veneto

840 athletes from 46 clubs from Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige took part in the second stage of this three-part FIK tournament. Karate Mühlbach traveled to Maser with 16 athletes to compete in the two disciplines “Kata” (form competition) and “Kumite” (dueling).

Gold in the “Kata” went to Laura Schönegger and Fabian Pezzei. The silver medal went to Michael Pezzei and bronze went to Patrick Pistocchi, Manuel Knapp, Christian Schönegger, Martin Pezzei and Yvonne Rigger - who was competing in her first competition - in their respective categories. The following came to the thankless fourth place in the kata: Florian Fiwickeler, Antonio Zacchari, Marion Fischnelller and Karin Pezzei. There was place for Frida Schweiger and Paula Schönegger, ninth place for Franziska Balzarek.

In the “Kumite” Michael and Martin Pezzei were able to climb to the top spot on the podium – while Thomas De Rosa, Manuel Knapp and Florian Filehner took silver. Bronze went to Patrick Pistocchi, Antonio Zacchari and Margit Zerle. Franziska Balzarek, Frida Schweiger and Fabian Pezzei came in fifth place.

With these results, “Karate Mühlbach” was able to achieve fifth place in “Kata”, eleventh place in “Kumite” and seventh place overall. “This means we are still one place away from one of our goals for the season, namely sixth place in this overall ranking,” said coach Martin Pezzei, who added: “This gives us all additional motivation to continue to improve with dedication and hard work in training – always Knowing that it is not about defeating our opponent, but rather that we are better today than yesterday and better tomorrow than today - that is our claim and our path.”
