At Karate Mühlbach everything goes according to plan

“Impressive performances, exemplary teamwork, the fruit of targeted preparations,” are how coach Martin Pezzei summed up the competition. Just two weeks before the highlight of the season, the Italian Championships, the second stage was seen by the athletes and the support team as a dress rehearsal - and the performances shown made it clear that the preparations were going according to plan. The FIK (Federazione Italiana Karate) karate tournament was held in the two disciplines of kumite (dueling) and kata (form competition). In the Kumite, both Franziska Balzarek and Fabian Pezzei won in their respective categories. Silver went to Florian Filehner, while the following athletes from Karate Mühlbach achieved third place on the podium: Laura Peintner, Julian Vaja, Sophie Unterpertinger and Martin Pezzei. In the kata, Sophie Unterpertinger achieved second place, while the third place on the podium went to the following people: Franziska Balzarek, Frida Schweiger, Laura Peintner, Laura Schönegger, Fabian and Martin Pezzei. The aim was to collect as many points as possible in the first two stages in order to be as high as possible in the overall ranking after the third stage, which takes place in a month. “The value of this tournament is above all that the athletes have to show consistent and constructive performances over a period of several months,” said Pezzei, who added: “After the second stage, we are completely on track and are now working specifically towards the next challenges .”
