Boxing: Feigenbutz retains IBF title and can hope for a world championship fight

Ludwigsburg (SID) Professional boxer Vincent Feigenbutz (Karlsruhe) has successfully defended his IBF Intercontinental super middleweight title and thus probably earned his next world championship opportunity. In Ludwigsburg, the 22-year-old defeated the South African Ryno Liebenberg by technical knockout in the sixth round. For Feigenbutz, who may now be in line for a world championship fight this year, the success in his 30th professional fight meant his 28th victory (two defeats). "It was a war. It was a very, very hard fight. When I saw that he had a cut, I kept going. Respect to him, we did something for boxing today," said Feigenbutz on Sport1 . Feigenbutz had prepared for the fight against Liebenberg in a tough training camp in the snow of Slovenia. Last year, Feigenbutz lost his first world championship fight against the Italian Giovanni de Carolis by technical knockout and thus missed out on becoming the youngest German champion in boxing history.
