At the same time, the IOC opened an investigation into the association's governance structure and suspended both financial payments and cooperation with AIBA until further notice. Contacts at work level are excluded. The IOC also requested a further report from AIBA on the management structure, finances, refereeing and the anti-doping system. An initial report was “not satisfactory”. “The decision is extremely disappointing,” the AIBA announced on Sunday afternoon. The process needs “more time”. "In the meantime, AIBA will continue its efforts to convince the IOC that it does not want to repeat the mistakes of the past," it said. IOC President Thomas Bach had already criticized the AIBA at the beginning of December and urged the association to ensure more transparency. After allegations of mismanagement and breach of trust, AIBA President Wu Ching-Kuo resigned in mid-November; the Taiwanese is said to have accumulated liabilities of over 30 million euros. However, with a comparison a few days ago, the situation could have eased. However, there were also allegations of manipulation at the Olympic Games in Rio. It was only at the end of January that the Uzbek Gafur Rachimov was elected interim president of the AIBA. The US Treasury Department recently described Rakhimov as one of Uzbekistan's leading criminals and said he was, among other things, involved in the heroin trade. However, Rachimov will not be prosecuted criminally because of his business.
