Karate Mühlbach celebrates the greatest success in the club's history

Karate Mühlbach made an exclamation mark at the Italian Cup in Schio last weekend. In the overall ranking in the kata, the Pusterers achieved an excellent 4th place. In addition, several young talents won medals.

The Italian Cup of the National Karate Association is the most important karate tournament of the year for color belts. Karate Mühlbach took part in the Kata (form competition) discipline with 15 athletes and in the Kumite (duel) discipline with four athletes.

The aim was for all Karate Mühlbach participants to reach the final of the best eight athletes and thus win valuable points for the overall ranking. In fact, without exception, all athletes achieved this goal, which ultimately paid off and resulted in fourth place in the overall ranking. For the first time, Karate Mühlbach has made this clear exclamation point in its history.

The intensive preparations of the past few weeks have borne fruit - Karate Mühlbach was able to win a total of seven podium places in the kata: Frida Schweiger once again took gold, while Karin Pezzei, Darko Ostojic and Maria Peintner won silver in their respective categories. Paula Schönegger, Emilia Bruni and Emma Peintner took third place on the podium. Paul Fischler, Madleen Unterhuber, Julia Mair and Jasmin Kurtovic came in the unfortunate fourth place (but still with valuable points for the team), while Laura Grünfelder came in fifth place and Laura Peintner, Gabriela Huber and Greta Fischer each came in sixth place .

In Kumite, Frida Schweiger won the top spot on the podium, while Darko Ostojic and Madleen Unterhuber won silver; Laura Peintner came in fourth place.

“It was a weekend with great performances, also with a lot of fun, but above all a tournament in which the great strength of Karate Mühlbach became clear once again, namely our great team spirit, which characterizes this karate school,” said coach Martin Pezzei .
