Sports bowling: Sarnthein remains top - Reinhard Gruber strong

Neumarkt put Jenesien in their place with 7:1 at the World Cup dress rehearsal on their home track in Laives. The Unterlandler sextet brought down 3544 pins, with Gábor Kovács once again becoming the best player of the game. He had 630 bowling pins to his name. Peter Bothazy (600) and Wolfi Blaas (607) also cracked the 605. On Jenesien's side, youngster Armin Egger shone, knocking down 592 pins and thus winning the honorary point for the promoted team. While Jenesien meets Kurtatsch in the championship on Wednesday, the Unterlanders will go to Augsburg on Tuesday morning, where they will take part in the World Cup.

Fugger Sterzing met Lana at home in the “Burgfrieden”. The Wipptal team prevailed 7:1 (3503:3134), as befits their status, but benefited from Reinhard Gruber's brilliant performance. The captain of last year's cup winners had an incredible 653 pins (414 goals, 239 clearances).

League leaders Sarnthein had no problems at all with the Tschöggelbergers in the home game against Vöran. With 3295:3127 pins, the total score was surprisingly clearly in favor of the hosts, who, like Neumarkt and Fugger Vipiteno, prevailed 7:1. The best individual performance was shown by Josef “Seppo” Obkircher, who swept 576 pieces of wood off the track. This means that the Sarnen team is just as prepared for this week's NBC Cup in Banja Luka (Bosnia-Herzegovina) as Fugger Sterzing is for the European Cup in Apatin (Serbia).

St. Georgen - Naturns extremely exciting

The Ratschings selection celebrated an important victory against Passeier. The Wipptal team won 3320:3272 at home with 6:2 bowling. The best individual performance was shown by Peter Volgger, for whom the counter stopped at 599 cones. Passeier is also heading to Banja Luka for the NBC Cup on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Kurtatsch put Tirol Mutspitz in his place. The Unterlanders, where Arnold Peer stood out with 603 pins, won 6:2. Karlheinz Goldner also bowled well and ended up with 599 balls.

The match between St. Georgen and Naturns was unbeatable in terms of excitement. The guests were in the lead for almost the entire match, but had to be caught up on the home straight and were behind by a single cone. St. Georgen won 5:3, the best player was Robert Larcher (596).

In the women's category, four teams are still without a point loss after two match days. Tirol Mutspitz, Los Birillos, Deutschnofen and Meister Villnöß celebrated just as many victories in the two games so far. However, the best number of wood of the round brought down a player from Tramin: For Christine Oberhuber, the counter stopped at 4 pins in the 2-573 win over Burggräfler.
