Boulder Italian Cup in Brixen: South Tyrolean women show off

The best boulderers in Italy were guests at the vertical in Brixen on March 11th and 12th. The second stage of the Boulder Italian Cup took place. The victories in the women's and men's categories went to the Arco Climbing team: Francesca Matuella and Pietro Vidi were happy with first places.

The South Tyrolean participants also did well. 11 of the athletes from the AVS national squad qualified for the semi-finals of the best 24, and one local climber made it to the semi-finals for the men. This is an outstanding result. A total of 19 athletes from the AVS state squad took part.

Evi Niederwolfsgruber is the surprise The big surprise was 18-year-old Evi Niederwolfsgruber from AVS Bruneck. She qualified for a national final for the first time and then came 4th. The Bruneck native has been climbing at the top of the field for many years, but this was her best result to date.

Leonie Hofer from AVS Passeier came 7th, just like in the first stage of the Boulder Italian Cup. She missed out on a place in the final of the top 6, but her consistency in always climbing to the top is remarkable.

Lena Trojer from AVS Meran came 8th, her teammate Leni Klotzner 10th. The two young women thus ensured further placements in the top 10.

Hannes Grasl holds up the men's flag In the men's category, only one South Tyrolean qualified for the semi-finals. Hannes Grasl from AVS Passeier achieved his best result in the Boulder Italian Cup and came 14th.

On the two days of the competition and especially on Sunday for the semi-finals and the final, many interested people came to the vertical in Brixen. The audience was enthusiastic, and the competition facility and the organization team also showed their best side. The next competition in the Boulder Italian Cup will take place on March 25th and 26th in Modena.
