Boulder elite in Brixen

The climbing hall in Brixen will be home to athletes from 25 nations next Saturday and Sunday. At the moment the route setters around the French icon Jackie Godoffe are in action. They work routes to perfection on the approximately five meter high bouldering wall, which the athletes only see for the first time on the day of the competition.

The athletes are traveling from Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Holland, France and Italy, among others - including Eva Maria Hammelmüller, the Dutch Sabina Van Essen (2nd in Prague and winner of two stages of the European Cup Youth), theirs Teammate Sandra Lettner and Czech Eliska Adamovska.

The Italians were unable to take part in the first European Cup stage due to technical problems; There will be eight of them in Brixen. In the men's category, Latvian Edvards Gruzitis (2nd in Prague) is at the start, who wants to benefit from the absence of Adam Ondra. Also at the start is the German Yannick Flohè (world champion in combination 2021), as well as the Czech Martin Stranik and the Italian Stefano Ghisolfi (winner of the Lead World Cup 2021 and ten-time Italian Cup winner).

The favorites among the men include the Slovenian Jerney Kruder (European Bouldering Champion 2020 and overall winner of the 2018 Boulder World Cup), the German Jan-Luca Posch (2nd at the European Cup in Poland 2021), the Belgian Simon Lorenzi, the Finnish Anthony Gullsten and the Swede Hannes Puman.

Filip Schenk from Val Gardena will try to give his best performance in front of his home crowd, as will Leonie Hofer from Passeiertal, who will make her European Cup “Senior” debut in Brixen. Pietro Vido, the best Italian at the first stage of this year's European Cup in Prague, and the siblings Alessia, Federica and Simone Mabboni, will also take part in the competition in Brixen.
