The SALEWA team is getting reinforcements from South Tyrol

Alexandra Ladurner is no longer an unknown quantity in the international climbing scene. And since winning the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Edinburgh in September 2010, the 19-year-old from Meran has been known to everyone interested in sports.

Ladurner has already demonstrated at the previous Junior World Championships that she can move more skillfully on the rock than almost anyone else, when she won silver (2007 in Ecuador) and bronze (2008 Australia). This makes her one of the most successful young climbers ever. And in the general age group she also had her first successes last year, as she won the title at the Italian bouldering championships.

So it's no wonder that the ambitious athlete with the very sunny and warm disposition was at the top of many outfitters' wish lists. In the end, SALEWA won the race for Alexandra Ladurner. “I am very happy about switching to SALEWA. Personal contact with my supplier is very important to me and as a South Tyrolean, it makes sense that I identify with the products of this brand from my homeland. If I need help with something, I drive from Meran to Bolzano - so logistically this solution is ideal for me. I was also very impressed by the way SALEWA looked after me. “The employees in this company are also very professional,” says Alexandra Ladurner.

The SALEWA headquarters in Bolzano is also enthusiastic about the new team member. “We are very pleased that, alongside Angelika Rainer and Andrea Prünster, we now have the third top climber from South Tyrol in our team. Alexandra is one of the most successful athletes not only in South Tyrol, but also beyond the country's borders. She is young, dynamic and ambitious. But above all she is one thing: extremely enthusiastic; and that's what I particularly like about her. When she talks about climbing, the joy of it is written all over her face,” says Ruth Oberrauch, SALEWA’s marketing manager for Italy.

Alexandra Ladurner will be competing in many competitions over the course of the season, but the absolute highlight of the season is the World Championships in Arco. For the first time, the climber from Burggrafenamt will be taking part in a world championship in the general age group. “The anticipation is huge because the World Championships are taking place practically on my doorstep and that is something very special. My goal is to reach the semi-finals,” says the self-confident but by no means arrogant SALEWA athlete.

To achieve this goal, Alexandra Ladurner is currently training several times a week with her trainers Andreas Sanin and Helmuth Haller from AVS Meran, bouldering in Algund or in the “Saustall” climbing garden at the entrance to the Val Senales.

However, Alexandra Ladurner will devote all her concentration to another goal in the next few weeks, namely the upcoming school leaving exam. It can almost be ruled out that the 19-year-old from Meran will encounter too many difficulties - after all, the determined top athlete is not only an excellent acrobat on the rock, but also a model student.

Florian Riegler, Simon Gietl and Angelika Rainer are just three of the many “young, wild people” from South Tyrol who are members of the SALEWA team. Now the South Tyrolean mountain sports multi-specialist has strengthened itself further and brought Alexandra Ladurner into the team.
