The Boulder European Cup is in Brixen

Next weekend, the Vertikale climbing hall in Brixen will be home to Europe's best boulderers. The South Tyrol Alpine Club is the organizer of the event and is planning a great show that will start on Saturday, May 7th. The audience can watch the competitions live in the open air. The qualifications will take place on Saturday and the semi-finals and finals will take place on Sunday. Entry is free.

The two South Tyrolean athletes are expected to be particularly applauded. The 16-year-old Leonie Hofer from the Passeier Valley is making her European Cup debut in Brixen, while the experienced climber Filip Schenk from Val Gardena will also be demonstrating his talent in Brixen. He has already shown his skills in all three climbing disciplines (lead, boulder and speed) and won the Italian Boulder Cup in 2021, a European Youth Championship in 2018 and two Youth World Championships in 2017 and 2015. The Italian team will compete in Brixen with an elite athlete, the Piedmontese Stefano Ghisolfi, and 13 other athletes.

The Italian national team returned from Prague with a meager return - the first stage of the European Cup took place there last weekend. Only Pietro Vidi from Trentino reached the semi-finals and ultimately a satisfactory 12th place. Filip Schenk finished the competition in 23rd place, further down the rankings were Giovanni Placci from Faenza (49th) and Marcello Bombardi from Modena (63rd).

The second stage of the Boulder European Cup will take place in Brixen next Saturday, May 7th, with the women's qualification from 10 a.m. to 13.30:15.30 p.m. and the men's qualification from 20:10 p.m. to 12.15 p.m. The following day, the women's and men's semi-finals will take place from 16.10 a.m. to 17.50 p.m., while the highly anticipated final will take place from XNUMX p.m. to XNUMX p.m.
