Filip Schenk climbs to his first title

He lived up to his role as favorite and led from the start. The young climbing talent Johannes Egger (AVS Bruneck) also made it to the final and came in an excellent 6th place. Things didn't go according to usual for title contender Michael Piccolruaz and he had to miss out on the final in 8th place. However, he managed to finish third overall in the overall standings. Leni Klotzner (AVS Meran) was the only South Tyrolean to make it to the semi-finals and came in a good 15th place. The trial by fire after the long Covid break at the tried and tested outdoor bouldering facility at the Vertikale climbing hall in Brixen was a success. 150 athletes from over thirty clubs took part. The double victory for Schenk was the crowning achievement. From a technical point of view, the bouldering problems were screwed very spectacularly. It was exciting until the end. Filip Schenk made a great comeback. He didn't manage a point in the first block, but then he didn't let himself be disturbed and climbed blocks two and three to the top. He got the zone in the fourth. He was the only athlete to achieve two tops. A strong Pietro Biagini from Genoa came second with a top, followed by the young Turin native Davide Bassotto. Piccolruaz misses the final From a South Tyrolean perspective, Johannes Egger's (AVS Bruneck) great performance was very pleasing. He even qualified as third in the semi-finals for the top six. There he took sixth place after two zone grabs. For Olympic participant Michael Piccolruaz, the competition didn't go as planned. Although he came eighth and third overall, the results did not fully reflect his performance. Michele Bono from Cuneo came second overall. Leni Klotzner makes it to the semi-finals In the women's category, Giorgia Tesio from Piedmont won ahead of Camilla Moroni from Genoa. Both managed four tops in six attempts. Tesio was in the lead for a long time after the semi-final and thus took the win. The very strong youth athlete from Arco, Alessia Mabboni, came third. Leni Klotzner (AVS Meran) qualified for the semi-finals in eleventh place, where she climbed to 15th position with four zone holds. Moroni took the overall ranking, ahead of Tesio and the young Irina Daziano from Cuneo. The next bouldering highlight is the Italian Championships on June 19th and 20th in Bologna. Filip Schenk climbs to his first title

With his victory in the third Italian Cup competition in 2021 in bouldering, Filip Schenk from Val Gardena confidently won the overall title. It was the highlight of the climbing event at the weekend in Brixen.
