Climbing Junior Cup in Sexten

The third stage of the Junior Cup took place in Sexten at the weekend. The program included difficulty climbing (lead). 250 children and young people took part in the competitions organized by the AVS Drei Zinnen section. The U16, U18 and U20 categories took part on Saturday. In the absence of the two athletes from the youth national team, David Grasl and Alex Pichler, the U16 podium was completely in Merano's hands. Tiberio Zanatto celebrated his first victory and at the same time his first podium place in the Junior Cup. AVS Meran teammates Simon Prada and Dario Cadonau follow in second and third place. In the girls category U2, Nadia Insam from Val Gardena, who is competing for AVS Meran, won this year. Second is Sofia Brenna from Arco Climbing and third is Veronika Cagol from AVS St. Pauls. Both Fritz Engele (AVS Meran) and Vanessa KofIer (AVS Passeier) climbed the two final TOP routes in an impressive manner and secured victory in the U18 category. It is the first victory for both of them in the Junior Cup of the current season and they are among the strongest in their age group in Italy. Second among the women is Elsa Giupponi (AVS Meran) and third is Kathrin Mock from AVS Ritten. Fabian Pardatscher from AVS Tramin and Lorenzo Barbolini from AVS Brixen complete the men's podium. The victory in the U20 age group goes to the surprise finalist of the home Italian Cup Evi Niederwolfsgruber (AVS Bruneck), followed in second place by Lena Trojer (AVS Meran) and in third place by Maja Gritsch (AVS Bruneck). Maja Gritsch is finally back in competition after a long injury break. After her own competition on Saturday, she was there on Sunday as a trainer for the young Bruneck athletes. For the men, Samuel Perntaler from AVS Brixen climbed the TOP route, with Jonathan Pallhuber (AVS Bruneck) and Andreas Cagol (AVS St. Pauls) in second and third place. On Sunday the competitions in the U12 and U14 categories were on the program in the climbing hall in Sexten. For boys, the first places in both categories are firmly in the hands of the two series winners in the Junior Cup: Simon Fill from AVS Brixen has won all stages of the U12 category so far, and Piergiulio Paglierani (AVS Meran) has done the same in the U14 . Completing the podiums in the U12M are Moritz Kuhn from AVS Bozen (first podium for him) and Noah Oberhofer (AVS Brixen). In the U14M, the leader after qualification, Simon Hofer from AVS Meran, comes second; Niccolò Cazzanelli from Arco Climbing comes third. After a few second places, Vera Nagler from AVS Brixen finally takes victory in the U12 category ahead of Emma Moosmair (AVS Passeier) and Lisa Lamprecht (AVS Meran). The U14 winner, Chiara Francceschi from Arcoclimbing, has also won all Junior Cups so far. She wins ahead of Vanessa Atz from AVS St. Pauls and Sara Kofler from AVS Passeier. The next stage of the Junior Cup will take place on April 1st and 2nd in Bolzano. The speed discipline is on the program.

Climbing Junior Cup in Sexten

There were numerous podium places for the South Tyrolean participants at the Junior Cup in Sexten. TOP climbing was achieved three times, i.e. the highest securing point on the route was reached. 3 children and young people competed in one of the 250 categories.
